Payment and Trainee Requirements

1. Students must take a placement test before enrolling in courses. The dates and times of the placement tests are announced in advance by the GRÜ TÖMER Student Affairs Office.
2. The placement test (except for Turkish language courses) is subject to a fee, which is deducted from the course fee at the time of registration. The placement test fee is non-refundable for students who do not enroll in a course.
3. The results of the placement test are valid for 4 months. Notwithstanding the placement test results, the course instructor may change a student’s course level—with the approval of the department chair—if deemed necessary.
4. Course fees are collected in Turkish Lira. Registration fees for classes that cannot be held due to reasons attributable to GRÜ TÖMER will be refunded.
5. To benefit from discounts at GRÜ TÖMER, the required identification document must be presented at the time of registration, and the relevant form must be signed with a photocopy of the identification document attached.
6. For a class to be opened, the minimum number of students specified by the GRÜ TÖMER Central Board for the courses must be met. Classes for English and Turkish for specific purposes, as well as for at least 12 other languages and foreign language courses for specific purposes, are opened with a minimum of 10 students. For group applications, special classes with customized schedules and intensity levels may be opened for one- or two-month periods. The authority to continue or close classes, as well as to change class schedules, classrooms, and instructors, rests with the GRÜ TÖMER administration.
7. During the final four hours of each course, a course completion exam covering the four core skills is administered. Students who pass advance to the next level. Students who fail must repeat the same course, upon payment of the course fee, to advance to the next level. To pass the course exam in all skills, students must achieve the minimum scores listed below. The scoring system is as follows:

Lessons Highest Score Lowest Grade
Listening 25 15
Reading 25 15
Conversation 15 9
Oral Expression 10 6
Written Expression 25 15

8. Students who complete the Basic and Intermediate levels receive a certificate approved by the GRÜ TÖMER Directorate; students who complete the Advanced level receive a diploma approved by the Rector’s Office of Giresun University.
9. Attendance is mandatory for at least 85% of classes. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will not be allowed to take the course completion exam and will be considered to have failed that course. No refunds will be issued for days or hours missed.
10. By registering for courses at GRÜ TÖMER, students are deemed to have accepted all of the above rules and conditions.
