At GRÜ TÖMER, all students take the Placement Test.
Course exams are administered during the last two class days of each course. The exams assess four core skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The speaking section consists of two subsections: conversation and oral presentation. Students who pass all of these sections earn the right to advance to the next level.
To pass the exam, students must score at least 15 out of 25 on each of the reading, listening, and writing sections; at least 9 out of 15 on the conversation section; and at least 6 out of 10 on the oral presentation section.
In the exams administered at GRÜ TÖMER, speaking skills are assessed in two sessions. In the conversation section, two students must engage in a dialogue on a given topic, while in the oral presentation section, a student must express their thoughts on a given topic. These speaking exams are evaluated by a committee consisting of at least three faculty members.
***Students taking the Level Advancement (Final) Exam across four sections are eligible to take the Make-up Exam if they fail one section. However, students who fail two or more sections cannot advance to the next level and must repeat the level.
Students who fail the course exam cannot take the placement exam during the same term. Students who wish to continue their language studies at the next higher level despite failing the course exam may do so only by successfully passing the certificate or diploma exam for the course they failed as an external candidate.
